What are Porcelain Crown Caps?

Porcelain crown caps, also referred to as tooth-colored crowns, are dental restorations that completely cover the tooth surface, effectively restoring it to its original shape and size. They are ideal for strengthening and protecting teeth that can’t be restored using fillings or other types of restorations. Moreover, porcelain crown caps are customized to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth — providing you with a natural, long-lasting beautiful smile.

Reasons for Porcelain Crown Caps

There are several reasons why our dentist may recommend porcelain crown caps, including:

Broken or Fractured Teeth

If you have a tooth that is broken or fractured, a porcelain crown cap can restore it to its original shape and size.

Cosmetic Enhancement

If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, porcelain crown caps can enhance their appearance, improving the color, shape, and size of your teeth.

Decayed Teeth

If you have a tooth that is decayed, a porcelain crown cap can protect the remaining tooth structure and prevent further decay.

Fractured Fillings

If you have a filling that has become fractured, a porcelain crown cap can replace it and protect the remaining tooth structure.

Large Fillings

If you have a large filling, a porcelain crown cap can strengthen the tooth and prevent further damage.

Root Canal Treatment:

After a root canal procedure, a porcelain crown cap may be necessary to protect and strengthen the tooth.

Our Porcelain Crown Cap Procedure

Getting a porcelain crown usually involves two appointments with our dentist. During your first visit, our dentist will take precise molds or impressions of your teeth, which will be used to create your custom crown. A temporary crown will also be placed on your tooth, which will remain for about two weeks while your new porcelain crown is being fabricated by a dental laboratory.

During your second appointment, our dentist will remove the temporary crown, clean your tooth, and carefully place your new porcelain crown cap to ensure a proper fit and spacing. They will also check your bite to make sure everything feels comfortable and natural.

How to Take Care of Your Porcelain Crown Caps

Porcelain crown caps are a popular dental restoration option because they are strong, durable, and natural-looking. However, it is important to take good care of them to ensure they last for as long as possible. Here are some things you can do:
